Why We Write and What We Write moderated by LA (la-the-sage)

Writing is a personal experience and a personal statement. The reasons people choose to become writers are as vast as the personalities of the writers themselves. Are you a chronicler, an essayist, or is your diary a place to sort out your feelings? Explore with the group your writing motivations, tips, rewards, disappointments and other adventures that accompany this important journey of the soul.

Munchausen's by Internet moderated by Ellen (casa-rosie)

Is it real or is it Memorex? How many times have we been duped into thinking that what we read online is real only to find out the person is a fraud? Have we tossed over our hearts and/or money to a lost cause? Have you ever given advice to someone who is convinced their "Munchie" is real? Do people perpetrate these experiences and personalities as a cruel joke? Scammers beware! We are going to discuss you!

Should My Diary Be Private? moderated by K-Lo (midlife-in-minneapolis)

Why do we lock up? Are we troubled by co-workers, friends, or family members? Are disclaimers enough or do we bring out the big guns and lock up? This discussion will center around the needs for privacy. The reasons for locking are diverse and important, but does locking really solve the issues? What drives other people to nose around in our business?

Are You a Stats Whore? moderated by Dawn (mom-on-roof)

It doesn't take long to realize that our writing draws an audience in Cyberland. Stats trackers are amazing things that allow up to see who is reading, when they read, what they read, how long they read, etc. Does it matter? Are we proud of the visitor number displayed on our page? This discussion will focus on how stats tracking can affect what we write and how much we write.

My Diary Site is Better Than Your Diary Site, Neener moderated by Paula (poolagirl)

There are lots of different sites to use for your online journal. Livejournal, Wordpress, Blogger, DearDiary, Diaryland, etc. all offer a way for us to communicate our thoughts and feelings online. Each one has its own community, features, positives, negatives, etc. What do you like about your site? What changes would you like to see? Are you thinking of switching? This discussion promises to be all over the map. Just like us.
